Who says rain stops play? Not us!

Who says rain stops play? Not us!

You wake up on a Sunday morning. You open the blinds. You’re excited to spend the day outdoors having some fun in the sunshine. You see the weather app (for once!) was right. It is, indeed, cloudy with a deluge of rain.

Do you:
a) Groan, close the blinds and go back to sleep.
b) Yell to the dog, “Why does it always rain on the weekend and not during the damn week!”
c) Smile, hop out of bed, pop on your gumboots and head outside anyway.

We reckon most of you would be an a) or b) kinda person, right? In full honesty – us too.

The rain is wet. The rain is cold. Umbrellas always break. Raincoats are never as waterproof as they say.

BUT…

The rain is also magical, like little crystal droplets falling from the sky. The rain is cleansing and healing. The rain smells like childhood. The rain can be a tonne of fun.

So, next time you wake up to the pitter-patter of rain on your roof, don’t let it dampen your day (though, technically, you're about 99% likely to get wet). Instead, embrace the rain with these fun rain activities!

Puddle splashing: Grab your gumboots and find the biggest puddles. Make a game out of who can create the largest splash.
Rain dance: Because why not? Dancing in the rain is incredibly cathartic (there’s a reason they do it in the movies!) Turn up your favourite tunes and dance till you’re out of breath.
Rain meditation: Sit under a covered area outside and meditate to the sound of rain droplets. Or, if you’re feeling brave, sit in the rain and meditate.
Nature walk: With a waterproof jacket (just make sure it’s actually waterproof and not water-resistant), take a walk and notice how different everything looks and smells after the rain.
Rain photography: Capture the beauty of a rain-soaked world. Focus on droplets on leaves, reflections in puddles, or the patterns of the rain on different surfaces.
Mud art: If you’re feeling wild, you could create art in the mud with sticks, leaves, or even your feet. Now that’s some serious childhood nostalgia.

What we’re trying to say is, anything you can do in the sunshine, you can do in the rain. It’s all about perspective.

So, embrace rainy days as an opportunity to explore, create, and unwind. There's a whole lot of joy to be found in those wet and wonderful moments.

If you need us, we’ll be outside trying to make the biggest puddle splash.
