Need an injection of inspiration?

Need an injection of inspiration?

One of my favourite things to do when I’m feeling a bit glum is look out for my closest adventure film screening. There are more of these happening than you might realise, and once you make a habit of it, you get to know the calendar.

Every time I walk away from the soft seats of the cinema, or the plastic chairs in my local community hall, I leave with a spring in my step and a desire to craft a plan. Most of these never eventuate, but it’s fun to dream, and glorious to feel that magical tingle of inspiration.

We thought we’d send over a list of some of our favourites and when they’re on so you can keep an eye out. Even if they’re not touring right now, many of them have a great back catalogue to peruse. Watch the trailers to get a sense of the awe inspiring humans doing wild and wonderful things. Don’t forget, you can be them too.

Gutsy Girls Adventure Film Tour

Want to be inspired by and connected to a community of supportive and adventurous women? The Gutsy Girls Adventure Film Tour is your ticket. Two hours of heartwarming goodness, celebrating women in adventure from independent filmmakers.

Keep an eye out for screenings mid-year, or jump on to stream previous releases from the team.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

It’s hard to believe the Banff Mountain Film Festival whittles down over 375 films to just two hours of the best, thought-provoking adventure footage, but that’s how you know you’re getting the cream of the crop.

Typically the BMFF tours Australia in April, May and June, so keep an eye out for when it comes to you next year.

The Big Bike Film Night

For those who prefer to get around on two wheels, The Big Bike Film Night is the one to watch for the antics and ramblings of bikepackers from New Zealand to Tuscany and everywhere in between.

It’s on tour right now, with dates well into October for our Western Australian friends. Grab a ticket now!

The Adventure Travel Film Festival

With a manifesto that includes “to showcase the best independent adventure travel films ever made”, there’s no way you can miss The Adventure Travel Film Festival. Usually headed to Bright, Victoria in February, you can keep an eye on their plans online and grab tickets when they go on sale.

Women’s Adventure Film Tour

A celebration of stepping out of the comfort zone, the Women’s Adventure Film Tour (WAFT) showcases real stories about women from a variety of cultures and sports around the world as they push their own boundaries and defy limitations.

WAFT is showing at a variety of Australian locations all throughout September, so make sure you don’t miss out.

Beau Miles’ Adventures

If you want to watch something right now, check out the affable character that is Beau Miles. You don’t need to hike for 1000kms or repel off sky-reaching mountains to be an adventure. There’s fun to be had in your own backyard.
